Josh Allen records historic stat line as Bills lose to Rams Sunday

Josh Allen made history as the Buffalo Bills took on the Los Angeles Rams Sunday. The sixth-year quarterback threw three touchdown passes and ran for three more in the same game, ultimately tallying 342 passing yards and 82 rushing yards. His heroics weren’t enough at SoFi Stadium, however, as the Bills lost to the Rams 44-42—their first loss since Oct. 6.
The Bills’ offense was not only fueled by Allen but also a solid performance by wide receiver Khalil Shakir, who finished with 106 yards on five receptions, including a 51-yard touchdown pass from Allen in the third quarter.
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford led his team to their seventh win of the season with 320 yards on 23/30 completions. LA’s receiving duo of Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp shined once again. Nacua tallied a team-high 162 yards on 12 receptions, while Kupp 92 yards on five receptions. Running back Kyren Williams notched 87 yards on 29 carries, his performance good enough to get him over 1,000 rushing yards for the second consecutive season.
Allen’s performance garnered high praise from Rams coach Sean McVay, who told reporters postgame: “Josh Allen is an alien. Some of the stuff that he can do and the things that he can create, we knew he was capable of that. He’s shown that. That’s why he’s as well respected and well regarded in this league as he is.”
Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins called Allen’s performance “incredible.”
“When Josh Allen is Josh Allen, everybody’s better …. with six touchdowns, it’s incredible,” he said. “That’s hard in this league, and for Josh to continue to go in and out of every week with the MVP mindset that just shows who our leader truly is.”
Allen was blunt when discussing the loss, refusing to acknowledge his historic feat.
“I have to make one more play than they do,” he said. “It was a total team loss in three phases. We didn’t play up to our standards.”
Allen and the Bills will look to get back on track on Sunday, Dec. 15, when they face the Detroit Lions at 4:25 p.m. ET. The Rams, meanwhile, face the San Francisco 49ers in the Bay on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 8:15 p.m. ET.
