Meet the 2025 SXSW Hall of Fame Inductee: Mark Cuban

Mark Cuban, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and former majority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, will be inducted into the SXSW Hall of Fame at the 2025 festival, joining an esteemed list of past inductees, including figures like Margrethe Vestager, Dan Rather, and Nonny de la Peña.

The induction ceremony will occur on Monday, March 10, during the annual SXSW Innovation Awards Ceremony. Cuban will be honored for his outstanding technological, business, and sports contributions.  As one of the most well-known and influential figures in business today, Cuban is recognized for his innovative approach to technology and commitment to using his platform to bring positive change. 

Best known as the former majority owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and a prominent investor on the hit show ABC’s “Shark Tank,” Cuban has made an indelible mark on the world of tech startups, sports, and media. According to CNBC, he is also the founder of several successful ventures, including the pioneering internet company Broadcast.com, which was sold to Yahoo for nearly $6 billion in 1999.

Since broadening his horizons in the business world, Cuban has continued to make waves as a venture capitalist, backing numerous technology companies and startups and championing causes such as education reform and access to healthcare. He also co-founded HDNet, a network focused on high-definition television, which was eventually rebranded as AXS TV. This network features live events, concerts, and original programming and reflects Cuban’s interest in the future of entertainment and media distribution.
