Inches upon inches of snow will likely hit most of Massachusetts by Saturday at 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. and will continue into Sunday morning. As of early today, the National Weather Service issued a warning, stating that heavy snow accumulations would impact portions of northern Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.

About a half-foot of snow is expected in most of Massachusetts, but meteorologists say that there are areas that could reach up to 8 inches to 10 inches of snow, including the North of Boston. The National Weather Service advises caution and preparedness, as snow can turn into ice, making roads hazardous and travel difficult.

The storm is not expected to hit as strongly in some areas in Massachusetts including the Cape, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard. Reports indicate those areas may be hit by some precipitation and 3 inches to 5 inches of snow and that the storm will likely end by Sunday afternoon. However, some cloudy and rainy weather is expected to last the entire day.
