Saquon Barkley topped off his season for the ages with one more accomplishment. The Philadelphia Eagles running back set a single-season rushing record including playoff games, finishing with 2,504 yards and outdoing Terrell Davis’ mark of 2,476 yards set in 1998. He only needed 30 yards to pass Davis, and finished with 57 yards on 25 carries as the Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LIX behind a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Barkley gave up a chance for the regular season rushing record by sitting out the Eagles’ final regular season game on Jan. 5. Amid a historic season, the running back said he prioritized the Super Bowl over statistics.

“It was a hell of a year, but all of the numbers and stats or records are cool, but the best thing is to be able to hold that Lombardi Trophy,” Barkley said.

Following the Eages’ second Super Bowl win in franchise history, Barkley said, “It’s everything you dream of. I’m just happy to be able to hold it, give it a kiss, and be world champs.”

Barkley’s rushing record and first Super Bowl win also came on his 28th birthday.
