Over 100 detained immigrants moved from New England to New Mexico

Approximately 114 immigrants have been detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in New England today. They have been moved to New Mexico, according to immigration advocates who told Boston.com.
This transfer started on February 2, 2025, without any preparation and included people who were being held at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility, according to the Boston Globe. Those in the Facility were woken up in the early morning and flown to Torrance County Detention Center in Estancia, New Mexico.
Immigration advocate group Boston Immigration Justice Accompaniment Network (BIJAN) told Boston.com that others in Portland, Maine, were also a part of this transfer.
A man within the Feb. 2 transfer from Plymouth told the Boston Globe that conditions at the facility in Estancia are worse than those in Plymouth. He described the jail as a “real hell” that “is not apt for people.”
