Massachusetts Attorney General Launches Investigation Of Data Firm

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healy opened a state investigation into the fraudulent gathering of personal information from 50 million Facebook users. The investigation was announced Saturday afternoon after it was revealed that a large data firm had stolen Americans’ personal characteristics while being employed by the Trump presidential campaign in 2016.

Healy took to twitter to make her announcement, using the hashtag “#BREAKING.” She cited another investigation by the New York Times. The data mining and analysis company is based in London and focuses on strategies for winning elections.

“Massachusetts residents deserve answers immediately from Facebook and Cambridge Analytica,” said Healy from her Twitter account. After tackling Cambridge, Healy later put Facebook on notice.
