Harvard Handles Holy Cross

The Crimson survive. Harvard beat the Holy Cross Crusaders 33-31 on a cold night at Harvard Stadium. Harvard survived a furious comeback that saw Holy Cross erase a 16 point fourth quarter deficit. Jake McIntyre hit a 25-yard field goal as time expired to give Harvard the win. Senior quarterback Tom Stewart, who made his first start of the year, went 20-36 for 272 yards and 2 touchdowns. Aaron came off a career day at Cornell a week ago rushing for 191 yards, was solid rushing for 128 yards on 13 carries. James Batch, a redshirt freshman caught his first career pass on a 35-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Holy Cross struggled to get anything going on offense early gaining only 167 yards in the first half. The Crusaders would get it going behind Domenic Cozier who had two rushing touchdowns in the second half. A plethora of Harvard mistakes including a muffed kick and punt leading to points allowed the Crusaders to take a brief 31-30 lead in the fourth.
Harvard improves to 3-2 on the season and will host Princeton at Harvard Stadium next Saturday. Princeton sits atop the Ivy League at 4-0 and will take on Brown on Saturday. It’s safe to assume Tom Stewart will start again for the Crimson in their conference showdown against the Tigers. Holy Cross falls to 1-5 and will host Lehigh next weekend in Worcester.
