Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren made a major step toward a 2020 presidential run today by announcing the creation of a presidential exploratory committee.
The Democrat sent a five minute video to her supporters, explaining the committee would be a fundraising head start for the 2020 campaign season. The video outlined her platform’s major talking points including economic equality and the regulation of Wall Street.
She is the first to start public efforts for the Democratic nomination. It is expected that the party’s primaries could have over a dozen challengers including former Vice President Joe Biden, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, and New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker. The Iowa Caucuses are over a year away.

Last month Warren was re-elected in a landslide victory over Republican challenger Geoff Diehl.
