Every year since the 2nd Super Bowl in 1968, the different military branches have traded off who will perform the stadium flyover.

This year it’s the Navy’s turn, and it’s making history by featuring the first all-female flight crew for a Super Bowl. There will be four jets each operated by two women. The flyover will include 2 FA-18s, 1 F-35, and 1 Growler. The jets will be in a diamond formation with the FA-18s in the front and back, the F-35 on the left, and the Growler on the right.

The jets will take off from Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona. According to Lieutenant Lyndsay Evans, it will take the jets around 5 minutes to get from the base to the Stadium, and they’ll be playing 1,000 feet above the ground.

After the flyover, the flight crew will return to the base and will be escorted by police back to the stadium to enjoy the game.
