Surveillance footage of police car hitting pedestrian at Northeastern University released by authorities

In July of this year, a Northeastern University police car hit a pedestrian at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard. Surveillance footage of the collision has now been released.
According to the Boston Police Department report, the car was being driven by a mechanic, not an officer, at the time of the incident.
The pedestrian—an unidentified 37-year-old woman—told police she was in the crosswalk when she was hit. She was knocked over by the impact and treated at Boston Medical Center. Northeastern University says that the “do not walk” signal was displayed.
A group of onlookers approached the pedestrian after the collision, and one driver immediately pulled over to help her up.
Northeastern University did not mention the incident on its website or any of its social media platforms.
No charges have been filed. The university did not comment on whether the mechanic received disciplinary action or is still employed by the university.
