Massachusetts utility companies are preoccupied with the upcoming wind expected on Wednesday. The storm is expected to cause rain and wind across New England. Utility companies are trying to prevent potential power outages and doing what they can to address the problem before it happens.
The National Weather Service predicts the storm will occur overnight and into Wednesday evening. High winds will develop near the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and then come ashore into Boston and other major cities. Wind speed is assumed to reach 50 mph. The National Grid has been called in response to the storm and has crews placed for any potential impacts the storm may leave.
“With strong winds expected tomorrow afternoon, we’re getting materials ready and bringing in additional contract crews to respond to any damage as quickly as safety allows,” utility company Eversource wrote to customers. Eversource recommends that customers look out for text messages with updates about the storm and any power shortages that might occur.
It is recommended for phones and mobile devices to be charged in the case of an emergency. People are recommended to stay inside and limit outdoor activity.
