Karen Read’s hearing has been suspended to a later date due to Judge Beverly Cannone.

Judge Beverly Cannone abruptly halted Karen Read’s motions hearing after new information from prosecutors raised “grave concern.” Special prosecutor Hank Brennan had argued to block Read’s lawyers from calling two crash reconstructions as witnesses.
Brennan points to correspondence between the experts and the defense, including a $23,925 bill and comments suggesting potential improper influence. He criticized the defense’s actions as unfair and utterly deceptive.
The hearing was suspended, with plans to resume on February 25. However, Read filed a habeas corpus claim that asked a federal judge to dismiss two charges, arguing that a retrial would violate her double jeopardy protections from the Bill of Rights.
